CAMP FREEDOM, located near Homestead, Florida, is a special activities area of the Open Bible Temple, designed for camping or retreats of Christian churches and ministries.
The camp occupies a 15 acre tract of tropical hammock growth and pines. The many natural features of the camp area may be observed from natural trails. Here campers may learn about animals, vegetation and the geology of South Florida. All natural features of the camp are protected, planned, and designed for both adults and children. It is complete with buildings and facilities to accommodate a total of 150 campers for overnight and extended period camping. The camp is available to Christian churches and ministries by advanced reservations only. Reservations may be made up to one (1) year in advance by contacting the Camp office: 305-264-5454.
The Camp Caretaker lives on the camp grounds for your assistance Tuesday - Saturday, 9am - 4pm. The Christian churches/ministries must provide such directors, counselors and first-aid personnel necessary to conduct their individual camping program.
CAMP FREEDOM is located approximately five (5) miles north of Homestead, Florida, and 2˝ miles west of U.S. #1 (South Dixie Highway). To reach the camp from Miami, drive south on the FL Turnpike extension to exit 12 (Caribbean Blvd.) which connects you to U.S. # 1. Drive south on U.S. # 1 and turn right on S.W. 248th St., (Coconut Palm), then proceed west for 2 miles to 167th Avenue (Tennessee), and turn left. Proceed to the entrance of Camp Freedom which is the first entrance on the left side of the street.
SLEEPING QUARTERS
Camp Freedom can accomodate 150 people.
The central building, “Casa Grande”, has 6 dormitories that lead to a common Conference Room. It has beds for 90 people maximum.
The second building, “Casa Nueva”, has 3 dormitories with beds for 60 people maximum. One dormitory in this house is handicapped accessible.
And the third building, “Casa Chica”, will not be available during the months of November through March. But in the remaining months of the year (April-October) will be available for retreat speakers, directors, or pastors when the camp has been rented completely to one church/ministry.
Campers should be instructed to bring their own pillows, blankets, towels and other necessary bedding and personal items. The dormitories are equipped with air-condition/heating units.
DINING AREA
A rustic pavillion dining area with 12 picnic tables is available for the use of the group(s). All meals will take place in this building. The group(s) can have their meals catered-in or choose to cook their own meals in the kitchen which has a large stove (10 burners), ovens, refrigerators and a freezer. The dining area is NOT air-conditioned.
SWIMMING POOL
A 25’ x 50’ fresh water pool, 3’ - 8’ in depth, is the prominent feature of the play area. The pool is available for day use only. Adult supervision must always be present when pool is in use. At no certain time during the year, there could be a malfunction with the equipment at the pool. This would mean that the pool is not available. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause your group.
CAMPFIRE CIRCLE
Wood is provided at the open campfire area for various supervised fire ring activities. Please inform the Camp Staff in advance if you wish to use this area and the camfire wood will be provided.
· EACH GROUP IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LIGHTING AND EXTINGUISHING THE CAMPFIRE.
PLAY AREA
A large open field is located north of the pool and can be used for softball, soccer, football or other open field sports. A children’s playground is next to the dining area with slides, swings, etc. The playground is intended solely for children and has the capacity for children up to 70 pounds.
BEFORE THE GROUP'S ARRIVAL, WE NEED A CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE, LISTING CAMP FREEDOM AS THE ADDITIONAL INSURED FOR THE DATES CONTRACTED.
A RESPONSABILITY WAIVER IS TO BE SIGNED BY YOUR OFFICE AND RETURNED TO US PRIOR TO THE CAMP ACTIVITY.
Reservations can be made up to one (1) year in advance.
A non-refundable deposit of $500 (reservation deposit of $250.00 and clean-up deposit of $250.00) are required. These deposits must be received at Open Bible Temple, Inc., (5720 S.W. 17 St., Miami, FL 33155) within 4 days after the tentative date is made. If the deposits are not received within the time limit, the date will be opened to any church/ministry interested.
The reservation and clean-up deposits of $500.00 will be deducted from the total fees. A clean-up check list will be given to your Group Representative at the time of arrival. Plus charges will be made if campgrounds/facilities are not left clean at the time of departure.

When the camp facilities are not rented solely to one group, Camp Freedom reserves the right to rent out the other house(s). The kitchen, pool and campfire must be shared by both groups. The first group to reserve the date gets first choice at the dining, swimming, and campfire schedule for their group.
Check in time is 4:00 pm.
Check out time is 1:00 pm.
if passed check out time of 1:00 pm, AN EXTRA DAY will be charged in addition to the total fees.
Any plus charges for shall be billed to your church/ministry at the close of encampment. The balance is due within 7 days. Plus charges exist for the following:
Clean-up checklist not followed.
Breakage or loss of equipment.
Vandalism/damage repair cost.
Passed check out time of 1pm.
In the event of a cancellation a 8-month written notice is mandatory to request a deposit refund, if notice not received in that period of time, the $500.00 will be lost.
The Camp is used for authorized recreational purposes and no concession/profit making enterprise involving the sale of tickets, goods, foods, or other merchandise to the general public will be allowed.
Permits for retreats/camps will be issued to groups on a “first come, first serve” basis.
YOUR Group REPRESENTATIVE has the responsibility to instruct campers as to their civic responsibility RE: care and protection of all camp properTy, and see that every precaution is taken to prevent any vandalism and abuse. No natural feature of the camp is to be removed, disturbed, or destroyed.
A qualified person should be assigned to administer First Aid. The Group must supply their own First Aid items/equipment.
We will not be held responsible for loss or damage to your possessions.
Camp Freedom is designated as a non-smoking environment. In addition, drugs, alcohol, firearms or weapons are not allowed in the Camp, again for your safety and out of respect for others. Any evidence of these activities will forfeit the right of the renting group to continue encampment or to secure the future use of camp facilities.
The group shall exercise the privilege of this permit subject to the supervision of the Camp Representative.
The premises and all properties shall be used for the purposes intended and be maintained in a safe, sanitary and sightly condition. Groups are responsible for daily cleaning of the facility during their visit. Before departure, the group will have a walk-through with the Camp Caretaker to check on the condition of the facility.
No pets of any kind are allowed in the camp.
Campers are not allowed on the woodlands trails without adult supervision.
RV’s for camping use are prohibited.
Out of respect for others, quiet time will be observed from 10:00pm to 7:00am. No disruptive activities should be scheduled during these times.
Adult Leaders are responsible for informing their group of the guidelines and for enforcing them. All youth groups must have at least one adult in every cabin occupied by young people.
Each group should designate female and male living areas and inform group that no visitation is allowed in the living areas of the opposite sex.
Any emergency pertaining to the buildings should be reported to the Camp Caretaker immediately.
Parking areas are provided. Parking is not permitted in or near dormitory areas. Do not drive in any area other than the parking area.
Posted pool regulations should be followed at all times.
Air-conditioning units and lights should be turned off when dormitories, conference room or dining pavillion is not in use.
